You raise some really good points and I'm intrigued by these factors as well. While I don't know of any specific studies that have compared the exact factors you describe, there are many studies that have looked at a variety of factors, such as unwanted pregnancy and BC availability, ethnicity, sex ed, parental communication, religion, etc, etc. We know that an open, honest attitude where information is available leads to higher contraceptive use. In addition, it is amazing how societal and cultural issues affect all of this as well. In the case of the Massachusetts teenage "pact," I found it amazing that although BC wasn't available in the school anymore (funding was cut) there WAS a child-care center for the student's babies. In any event, you hit the nail right on the head when you say that we tend to tell girls sex is bad but everyone else tells her to do it, do it, do it !
